The Parent and Family Engagement Policy (PFEP) is a policy that schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) use to engage parents and families in the educational process:

PurposeThe PFEP's purpose is to improve student achievement by encouraging collaboration between schools, parents, and families.

ComponentsThe PFEP includes:
- A description of how schools help parents understand state assessments and academic standards
- A School-Parent Compact that is signed by students, parents, and school staff
- A process for parents and families to work with the school to develop, review, and revise the PFEP
- A description of how schools help parents understand state assessments and academic standards

ImplementationThe PFEP is created by the School Site Council. Schools must meet state parental involvement requirements, including the PFEP, to ensure meaningful consultation with parents.
