Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy

The Parent and Family Engagement Policy (PFEP) is a policy that schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) use to engage parents and families in the educational process:

  • Purpose
The PFEP's purpose is to improve student achievement by encouraging collaboration between schools, parents, and families.

  • Components
    The PFEP includes:

    • A description of how schools help parents understand state assessments and academic standards

    • A School-Parent Compact that is signed by students, parents, and school staff

    • A process for parents and families to work with the school to develop, review, and revise the PFEP

  • Implementation
The PFEP is created by the School Site Council. Schools must meet state parental involvement requirements, including the PFEP, to ensure meaningful consultation with parents.
