Perseverance Landed on Mars February 18, 2021

Countdown to Mars

Meet the Team

  • Meet the People Behind NASA's Perseverance Rover - Sending a rover to Mars take s large team. Meet some of the members.
  • Seeking Signs of Life in the Ancient Rock Record - When the NASA Perseverance Mars rover lands on the Red Planet, it will be caching rock samples for a future mission to collect and return to Earth. For Mars 2020 Deputy Project Scientist at NASA-JPL Katie Stack Morgan, studying rocks is not only important in the search for ancient life, but it’s also a hobby.
  • From Columbia to Mars - When she moved to the U.S. from Colombia, NASA-JPL engineer Diana Trujillo didn’t speak English. She paid her way through college by cleaning houses, learned English, and is now working to send her second spacecraft to the surface of Mars.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Send Your Name to Mars-- We're taking reservations! Send Your Name to Mars on NASA's next flight to the Red Planet.
  • Listen to Sounds of Mars--Ever wonder how you would sound on Mars? Grab your headsets, turn up the volume and listen for the subtle differences between the sounds on Earth versus how they would sound on the Red Planet.
  • Mars Photo Booth--Welcome to Mars! We can't take you to Mars (yet!) but we can bring the Red Planet to you. Put yourself in mission control, or on Mars, next to the rover. Upload your favorite photo, pick a background, and download it!
  • Explore the Virtual Landing Packet--This interactive flipbook is packed with all the information you need to get ready for the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover landing. Flip through the interactive packet, or download the PDF.
  • Ask NASA Mars--Ask a question about Mars, and get info all about the Red Planet, and how we explore it with rovers, orbiters and landers and someday, astronauts.

GAMES:

  • Test Drive a Mars Rover Game -  Always wanted to cruise around on the surface of another planet? Well, you’re in luck! In Explore Mars, you will be 'driving' a rover on Mars and collecting information about Martian rocks.
